CHRIST AS HEALER
Brokenness
John 20:24-29
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, forgive me for my failure to believe. I praise You for Who You are as my Lord and my Master. Continue Your work in me so that I may become more like You. Break me, mold me, and make me into the noble vessel that seems best to You. I am Yours to refine according to Your will. In Christ’s Name I pray. Amen.
DOUBTING THOMAS
How many times we are like Thomas! Despite the blessings and the manifestations of Christ’s power, mercy, and grace, we continue to choose unbelief. Although He shows us, teaches us, and reveals His plans to us, we still do not believe. How humbled we are when He is patient and longsuffering with us while gently but firmly showing us what we need so that we may believe. As He challenges us to believe so that we can receive His best, we become less and can say thanks be to God Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe because He has helped us overcome our unbelief.
Remember a time when you were confronted by the Lord with your unbelief and were then healed by Him. What did you learn about the Lord and how was your relationship with Him changed through this encounter?
Consider these scriptures about being molded by God:
Philippians 2:17
Jeremiah 18:3-4, 6
Malachi 3:3
Job 23:10
Daniel 3:17-18, 25-27
II Chronicles 20:12, 17
Proverbs 3:5-6
Psalm 18:20
Isaiah 36:5
Psalm 62:8
Isaiah 56:4-5
Isaiah 54:5
OUR NEED FOR BROKENNESS
Brokenness is God’s tool to deliver us from the hindrances that inhibit our greater intimacy with Him, for self-confidence says “I don’t need God”, idolatry puts other things before Him in our lives, self-sufficiency declares “God, I can handle this one”, pride keeps us puffed up and unrepentant, the vices of this world act as obstacles to our fellowship with Him, and addictions paralyze us in our walk with Him. As God calls us to lay aside these hindrances to knowing Him in a deeper way, we are to surrender all to Him unconditionally, for His remedies lead to health, wholeness and freedom in Him.
What hindrance to greater intimacy with the Lord has crept into your life? Give it to Him and praise Him for His deliverance.
Consider these scriptures about brokenness:
Psalm 20:7
Philippians 3:8
Matthew 6:33
John 15:5
Proverbs 11:22
James 4:4
Ephesians 4:27
John 10:10
Hebrews 12:1-5
II Corinthians 4:7-12, 16-18
Psalm 51:17
Micah 1:7
YOUR WILLINGNESS TO BE BROKEN
Jesus once asked an invalid this question- “Do you want to get well?” He asks the same question of you. Do you want to get well? Are you willing to be broken so that you may be healed? Are you willing to do what is required for your healing? If you are, then surrender all to the One Who loves you with an everlasting love and gave His life for you. The choice, as always, is up to you.
If it is your desire to be broken and healed, write Matthew 6:10 below and surrender all to the Lord. Declare your willingness to be broken and spilled out for love of your Savior. Abandon yourself and all to Him and His ways.
Consider these scriptures about God’s faithfulness and your choice:
Joshua 24:15
I Thessalonians 5:24
Psalm 37:5
Job 42:2
Jeremiah 32:17
Genesis 18:14
Psalm 72:8
Joshua 1:5
Exodus 15:26
I Peter 4:3
James 4:4-7
II Samuel 15:15
REFLECTING ON GOD’S WORD- What does each scripture say to you?

Lamentations 3:22-23

Closing Prayer: I am broken before You, dear Lord, as I have surrendered all to You. Do with me whatever You think is good and right, whatever pleases You. Make me more like Jesus. In His Name I pray. Amen.
